Christmas Wishlist
And these are a few of my favourite things! I know there are lots of gift guides out there, but I thought I would share for whomever is interested. I either own these, are buying them as gifts this year, or have them on my wish list. Because you know how much I love a well stocked kitchen…. (says the girl who brings her own knives to airbnbs…)
STOCKING STUFFERS
Plastic Bench Scraper or Metal Bench Scraper – Great for picking up all of the diced veggies you just chopped and bringing them to the stove.
Thermoworks ThermoPop – literally the only meat thermometer I trust. I cannot live without it.
In-Bottle Wine Aerator – love this one because it goes straight into the bottle.
Sparkling Wine Bottle Corks – I bring this to everyone I visit, because when you love sparkling wine, you just need them.
Egg Rings – My husband asked for these this year to make the perfect breakfast sandwich.
Olive Oil Ceramic Bottle – because this is so much prettier than a regular bottle from the grocery store.
Spoon Rest – no one wants a saucy counter.
Toast tongs – the thing you didn’t think you needed until you had it.
FOR THE COOK
Thermoworks Thermapen – I only use this and the thermopop for checking the temperature of my meat and fish. It makes sure it is cooked perfectly every time, I can’t live without it.
Oven Gloves (not mitts!) – makes it so much easier when you can actually use your fingers and easily grab hot things out of the oven.
Air Fryer – this is the one we have. We went for so long thinking we didn’t need it, but it is clutch for a weeknight meal. Meats retain so much moisture when they are cooked in this vs the oven.
Sous Vide & Sous Vide Container – This is the new slow cooker. Put your dinner in and let it run all day. Perfectly cooked no matter how long its in there. Fish, meat, eggs – you name it, it comes out perfect every time. This is how restaurants make perfect meals for hundreds a night.
Spiral Potato Masher – its weird, but it works. Definitely makes for creamy mashed potatoes.
ThermoWorks In-Oven Thermometer – This was my turkey and roast meat thermometer for years. I love it – and its magnetic so it sticks to the oven.
Knife Sharpener – this one is the one I have had for years. My knives range from PC (presidents choice) to zwelling. They all work equally well when nicely sharpened.
Chef’s Knife – this really is the essential knife in any kitchen. It is my favourite and the one I reach for every single time.
Le Creuset Frying Pan – they are expensive, but worth it. I bought a set of 3 when they were on sale and they are my go to. A little heavier than the average, but they hold the heat very well and are very even.
Knife Roll – love these for traveling. I like to bring my own knives when I travel to airbnbs. This allows me to bring it wherever I go.
FOR THE HOSTEST
Coupe Wine Glasses – Love these for fun wine glasses or to use for serving desserts like chocolate mousse or ice cream.
Automatic Wine Opener – one of those things you didn’t know you needed until you have it. And now you cannot live without it.
Edible Glitter – a festive way to add a little sparkle to your favourite drink!
Salt Box & Maldon Salt – the best finishing salt and the cutest box to store it in (literally what I have on my counter). Or if you want to get fancy, try Smoked Maldon Salt or Hickory Smoked Sea Salt (this is a staple in my house – love Silk Road Spices).
Stone Serving Tray – because everyone who loves to host needs some good serving trays.
Wood Serving Tray – the warmth of the wood makes food just pop. its beautiful.
