How to keep and trim Asparagus

It’s asparagus season! Asparagus is a great, fresh spring/summer veggie (especially for grilling), except for when it goes soft, limp, or bad. An easy way to keep asparagus fresh and crisp is by keeping it in the fridge in a large glass of water. Before placing the asparagus in the glass, snap the ends as close to the bottom as you can. Where it easily snaps is the transition from the hard fibrous bottom to the soft delicious top. Snapping the asaparagus will better ensure that the fibrous bottom is removed compared to cutting the ends. Asparagus kept in water can last up to two weeks.
